At the Clinique of Aesthetic and Natural Dentistry, our philosophy is that dental treatment should be gentle, conservative, minimally invasive, and natural. We want you to be able and willing to take care of your teeth, get infection removed, have a beautiful, bright smile and not have to worry about discomfort. Gentleness, excellent communication, listening, customer service, and your health are of the utmost importance to us. As a Holistic Dentist, Dr. Beata Carlson recognizes that dental infection and materials used can affect the health of the rest of your body. For your health we use only dental materials that are biocompatible with your body. We are a mercury free office and only provide white fillings. To ensure your health when we remove silver fillings, we take extra precautions to ensure you do not swallow or breathe the metal. Crowns and bridges can be made these days without any metal. Materials friendlier to the body can be used for these kinds of procedures. The health of your gums is of the utmost priority to us as herein lies the foundation for your teeth and the start of diseases in the rest of the body. Without healthy gums you can lose the bone that holds your teeth in place, and as a result lose your teeth. We have a special conservative non-surgical program to assist you in keeping your teeth. WATCH VIDEO: Holistic Dentistry is basically a philosophy that your mouth is connected to the rest of your body and the materials used in dentistry and the infections and bacteria that grow in the mouth can adversely affect the rest of the body. Some patients are allergic to different dental materials. If that is a concern, patients can be tested for their compatibility with various dental materials. We are mercury free and only use the white fillings. We use non-metal materials in most cases. No fluoride. WATCH VIDEO: In treating the patient holistically, we may see that an infected tooth affects a specific organ in the body per the tooth/body chart. We can then inform the patient’s doctor. If no other cause can be found for a patient's health problem, some doctors will consult the Tooth/Body chart and let us know which organ is giving the patient trouble. We can then X-ray the tooth and see if there is any infection. `
A link has been discovered between periodontal disease and heart attacks and other heart illnesses. People with Periodontal disease (over half the adult population) have a bacterial infection that causes chronic inflammation of the gums. This infection opens a pathway for this bacteria to enter the bloodstream. Studies indicate that the bacteria in periodontal disease may cause blood clots. When blood clots escape in the bloodstream, there is a relation to increased risk of heart attacks and other heart illnesses. We treat periodontal (gum) disease very conservatively with breakthrough methods that are helping 100’s of patients improve the condition and avoid life threatening problems as well as not losing their teeth. When the bacteria eat away the gums and the bone, which is only visible on x-rays, then the teeth lose their support and fall out. Gum disease is the major cause of tooth loss. Continue reading the next section for more information. Silver (Mercury) Filling Removal Silver fillings are called amalgams and contain mercury. We follow Dr. Hal Huggins' protocol for removing amalgam fillings, if a patient has been found to be mercury-toxic. Some of the precautions we take:
We always ask that the patient return to their healthcare professional, after the amalgam fillings are replaced, and to follow their Doctor’s instructions in order to detoxify the mercury. Fluoride, a Toxin in Your Water by Dr. Mercola

If you have front teeth that are broken, cracked, chipped, dark, or missing, it's possible that some of your personal troubles are your smile's fault. Your smile is one of the first features people notice about you. It is either attractive or repellant because other people make judgments about you based on how your smile looks. Are your teeth even and white? Is your smile inviting? Does it say you are open, full of confidence and high self-esteem? It's amazing how many characteristics other people read into your personality based on your smile's appearance. Do you look on the outside like you feel on the inside? Make your beautiful inside show on the outside. In today's world people judge us by the car we drive (is it clean); our clothes (are they neat and fresh) and our appearance. Do we keep up our grooming, hair, and work out. If your teeth don't look well cared for and healthy it appears you don't take care of yourself. Your smile is one of the first nonverbal cues you give to people. You may notice that other people treat you a certain way right when they meet you, often without even talking to you. You may have also heard the phrase that "When you smile, the whole world smiles back at you." What do you want to convey to others? Also If you're ashamed of how your teeth look, if you're embarrassed about your smile, if you're covering up your mouth with your hand when you speak, other people may read these nonverbal signals in a negative way. They may think you have a low self-esteem, that you have little confidence, that you're not capable of a more important job, or of sustaining a deep and lasting personal relationship, or that you don't like them. When Changing Your Image, Start With Your Smile According to studies, most people spend about 30 seconds appraising you before they begin to form a laundry list of impressions about you. Impressions formed in the first 30 seconds are based on the appearance you convey. Based on your appearance people judge your educational level; your career competence and success; your personality; your level of sophistication; your trustworthiness; your sense of humor; and your social heritage. For better or worse, this means that appearances count in today's world, according to Susan Bixler's book The Professional Image , published by Adams Media Corporation. A new smile can make you look so much better and younger, boost your self-confidence and self-esteem, as well as increase your communication ability, your sex appeal, and impact on your personal and professional relationships. You can be more yourself around others and be able to laugh out loud. Be more out-going. And getting that smile isn't as complicated as you might imagine. So Easy Many people can have a dramatic change in their smile with just a few visits to the dentist. So many options are available today that there is no reason why you need to suffer the injustice of a poor job or a failed relationship just because you don't have an attractive smile. Sometimes the investment in your smile is all it takes to raise your own self confidence and confidence of others in you. Look at the Smile Gallery for examples of how a smile makeover can enhance your over-all appearance. Look 10 years younger without A FACELIFT!!!
Is Collapsed-Smile Syndrome Prematurely Aging You? As the teeth get worn down there is nothing left to support the facial features and the face collapses in. Look at anyone without their dentures and see how their face collapses. A similar thing occurs over time as the teeth wear down and become shorter. Or you may not have sufficient teeth structure where your cheeks are. Those teeth can be built out to smooth wrinkles. Call Dr. Carlson's office today! How Dentists Prevent Heart Disease. Periodontal Disease Untreated periodontal disease and decay in and around the mouth is like having an open wound the size of a hand; it's invisible because it's under the gums. Periodontal disease, usually called Gum Disease, is a chronic infection involving about 500 different kinds of bacteria that can affect heart disease. The way it works is that chronic infections may trigger a chain of chemical events that cause inflammation, or swelling, throughout the blood vessels and arteries. The body builds up plaque to handle this inflammation and if that plaque breaks off in the blood stream, blood clots can form, leading to heart attack or stroke. Say "Ahhh" to Avoid Heart Disease For the past decade, several studies have concluded that there is a strong link between periodontal disease and heart disease. In one study, men with extensive gum disease were more than four times as likely to develop heart disease (the nation's leading cause of death) than men with healthy gums. Another study involving Arizona 's Pima Indians, who rarely smoke, showed those with gum disease were more than twice as likely to suffer a heart attack than those whose gums were healthy. Periodontal disease is the most common chronic infectious disease in the world, more common than the cold. Population surveys and studies done in the United States indicate that more than 80 percent of adults have some amount of gum infection. The problem increases with age. The bottom line is that periodontal disease may be far more serious threat to your health than previously realized. To save your heart, take action now to protect your gums. Non-Surgical Gum Disease Treatment There are several signs of gum disease (periodontal disease):
What is Gum Disease? In order for you to understand that gum disease is a bacterial infection, we take a microscope slide of the bacteria under your gums and show you the live bacteria under the microscope. If you are found to have gum disease, what is required is to have a special "Detoxification of the teeth" that cleans out the hardened and softer bacteria from below the gums. "We were as surprised as the patient. This really works!", says Dr. Jonathan Bromboz of the program he has implemented in his office. "The results we are getting are far beyond my wildest expectations. I am so happy for my patients and to be able to help. For years I have aggressively searched for every latest technique and procedure for handling gum disease and by adding the laser we are having dramatic improvements and results. We use a combination of all of these techniques, plus the laser. Laser assisted periodontal treatment with no surgery works." LANAP (Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure). Avoid painful gum surgery with the gentler, kinder, more effective laser gum treatment Laser Gum Treatment To maintain a clean environment under the gums we custom make “Perio Protect Trays”™. These are clear trays inside which medication is placed. These trays are designed so that they form a seal to hold the disinfectant against the gum “pockets” and keep the medication from being flushed out. This is a major breakthrough because the problem has been keeping the medication from being flushed out and also being able to apply it often enough. The “Perio Trays”™ have solved this problem in that they hold the disinfectant in place and you keep the trays and continue to apply the disinfectant treatment as many times a day as needed. Visit BestGumHealth.com for more info Diabetic? Get the right dental treatment! The Relationship to Blood Glucose (BG) Control For one, people with diabetes have more sugar in the mouth, which provides a more hospitable environment for hostile bacteria. It also makes healing more difficult once an infection sets in. Just like diabetics with poor BG control have a hard time healing wounds and infections on their feet, their bodies have a hard time fighting infections and healing wounds in the mouth. At the same time, on-going infections may make BG control more difficult. Inflammation and infection affect BG control no matter where they occur. But the mouth is often overlooked, because most medical doctors do not look in the mouth. Once an infection takes root a vicious cycle ensues making metabolic and infection control a struggle. This cycle can have drastic consequences. If oral infections get out of control they can lead to BG control problems serious enough to land a person with diabetes in the hospital, to say nothing of the damage to the teeth and gums. Gum infections can also impact insulin needs. Authors of a study cited in September's 1997's Practical Diabetology concluded that when an infection is rampant, patients with diabetes often have increased insulin requirements. If periodontal disease is treated and gingival inflammation is eliminated, these insulin needs often decrease. Call now for a complimentary appointment to evaluate your dental health. 727-712-3837. Studio 10 TV - Dr. Bromboz talks about Snap-On Dentures Announcement: Finally available! Non-Metal Dental Implants. Made of the strongest material - Zirconia, the material hip implants are made with. They are more biocompatible, and better cosmetically as well. Take Your Choice of Solutions: Most people have one or more missing teeth. But, that doesn't mean you have to live with that embarrassing space. Today, there are three very good options to give you back your good looks and chewing ability. . Partial Dentures When a tooth is lost due to decay or gum disease, or just never appeared at all, a fixed dental bridge is a good way to restore the missing tooth. A dental bridge is like a false tooth, and can be used to replace a single missing tooth, or several teeth in a row. The all-porcelain bridge looks almost identical to your natural teeth. And, because there is no metal involved - no gray line! Finally, best of all are dental implants. Rather than using adjacent teeth as anchors like fixed bridges, dental implants are long-term replacements that your dentist places in the bone. Composed of titanium metal that "fuses" with the bone, dental implants never decay like the teeth anchoring fixed bridges might. Because dental implants fuse with the bone, your bone assumes that a real tooth is in there. That usually stops the bone loss that can happen with a bridge. If you are missing several teeth in your mouth, you may still enjoy the confidence and lifestyle benefits that come with dental implants. Depending upon the number of teeth that are missing, your dentist may attach several new teeth to two or three dental implants in a bridge/implants combo. This technique can even be used to securely anchor complete dentures. The implants will serve as a stable support that tightly locks into your replacement bridge or dentures to prevent slipping and bone loss. With an overall success rate of about 95% and almost 50 years of clinical research to back them up, dental implants are frequently the best treatment option for replacing missing teeth. Anyone with regular dentures knows that eating a steak or biting into an apple is always risky because the dentures in the jaw may slip and slide as they lose their attachment to the gums. The solution to this is getting the denture attached to implants, which are anchors in the bone. Implant-supported dentures lock the denture in place, providing people peace of mind that their dentures will not slip when eating or speaking in public. An implant-supported denture is a type of denture that is supported by, and attached to, implants, whereas a regular denture rests on the gums and tends to fit less firmly in the mouth. The implants are placed into the jaw and bond to the jawbone forming an anchor. When a person has enough bone in the jaw to support implants, an implant-supported denture is ideal. This sort of denture has special attachments that snap onto the implants, allowing the denture to feel stable and secure. Patients who choose an implant-support denture over a regular denture rave about having a better ability to chew, eat the foods they love, have an improved appearance, are more confident, maintain a healthier diet, and feel happier and better about themselves. The reason is that implant-supported dentures feel more like "real" teeth than regular dentures because they feel more stable and secure. Implant-supported dentures are locked firmly into place, whereas the regular dentures may occasionally slip off the gums. Eat better. Implant-supported dentures can triple your biting force, allowing you to eat foods that you ate with your natural teeth. With regular, non-implant dentures, as the jawbone shrinks over time, there is less support for your ordinary dentures so your chewing efficiency reduces, making it difficult to eat certain foods. Implant dentures can restore chewing efficiency comparable to that of natural teeth, allowing you to enjoy foods like apples, steak, corn and your other favorite foods. Cosmetic Denture wearers enjoy the ability to flash an amazing smile that is natural looking, while having a denture that provides stability, optimal chewing efficiency and extraordinary comfort. Because they are custom made by a cosmetic dentist and neuromuscular dentist they will enhance your facial features, your comfort as well as your smile. You will also enjoy the pleasure of eating the foods you love in the company of the people you love. Join in on Holiday dinners again with loved ones with no embarrassment and total security and stability. Duplicate Dentures Ways dentures can be lost: Dogs chewing them, at a restaurant, after surgery, or while traveling. It will be an EXACT duplicate, ready to wear. They will feel and fit just like your current dentures, of course you can have the teeth a lighter shade if you wish something more cosmetically appealing. Don't wait until it is too late. Sleep Apnea Did you know that there are literally over 20 Million Adults in the United States suffering unnecessarily from a Sleep Disorder called “Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). The scariest and most dangerous part of it all is that the majority of those sufferers don’t even know it! Do You Stop Breathing During The Night…Or Snore? Due to the way your jaw rests when you sleep you can have an airway obstruction leading to inability to breathe and take in oxygen. As the body senses the inability to breathe and lack of oxygen, the person is unknowingly pulled from sleep resulting in many awakenings throughout the night. He never really gets into the deeper more restful sleep because just as he is about to get there his body wakes him up to get air. These repeated episodes often cause many daytime symptoms as fatigue, lack of concentration and depression.
